About Us

Supporting Families since 2013

Sian is an Endorsed Midwife (2026), Registered Midwife since (2013) and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (2020) with extensive experience supporting families through pregnancy, feeding, newborn care, and the early months of parenthood.

She has worked in a tertiary hospital caring for families with healthy newborns, babies needing specialised medical support, and families experiencing loss. This broad clinical experience allows Sian to provide calm, compassionate, evidence‑based breastfeeding and newborn guidance across many different feeding and postpartum situations.

As an IBCLC, Sian supports families locally, interstate, and internationally through in‑person and Telehealth lactation consultations, working with newborns through to six months of age. She also provides antenatal breastfeeding education within a Queensland Health facility, helping parents build confidence and prepare for their feeding goals.

Sian’s practice is grounded in the belief that every family’s feeding journey is unique. She is committed to walking alongside parents—supporting their goals, respecting their choices, and helping them understand their babies’ needs with reassurance and compassion.

Her passion for infant care spans decades. Since 1995, Sian has cared for families in Australia and overseas, including multiple sets of newborn twins and triplets. She has volunteered in orphanages in Hong Kong (2000) and Lesotho, Southern Africa (2006), caring for babies from three days old to three years of age, many with additional needs. These diverse experiences shape her gentle, practical, family‑centred approach to breastfeeding and newborn support.

After returning to Australia and becoming a mother herself, Sian completed her Midwifery degree through The University of Queensland, combining her formal clinical training with decades of hands‑on infant care experience.

FAQ

What is an IBCLC?

An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is a globally recognised healthcare professional specialising in breastfeeding and infant feeding. IBCLCs provide evidence-based assessment, clinical guidance, and practical support for feeding challenges, milk supply, and complex situations. They work with families to protect, promote, and support safe, effective, and confident feeding.

Are consultations private and confidential?

Yes. All consultations are conducted in a private, professional setting and your information is handled with strict confidentiality. We respect your privacy and follow healthcare privacy standards, ensuring your personal, medical, and family details remain secure, protected, and never shared without your consent.

Is your care evidence-based?

Yes. Our care is grounded in current, evidence-based practice and guided by established clinical standards. We integrate the latest research with extensive clinical experience to provide safe, effective, and personalised support, ensuring recommendations are informed, practical, and aligned with best-practice maternity and lactation care.

What can I expect during a consultation?

During your consultation, we provide a comprehensive, individualised assessment of feeding, maternal wellbeing, and your baby’s needs. You’ll receive practical guidance, clinical insights, and evidence-based strategies tailored to your situation. Our approach is supportive, respectful, and focused on helping you feel confident, reassured, and empowered.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is required. You can book directly at any time. Many families seek support proactively or when challenges arise. We also welcome referrals from healthcare providers when collaborative care is helpful, ensuring you can access timely, professional lactation and postnatal support whenever you need it.

Do you offer telehealth consultations?

Yes. We offer telehealth consultations, allowing you to access professional lactation and wellbeing support from the comfort of your home. Telehealth is ideal for guidance, follow-up care, and many feeding concerns, providing flexible, convenient, and evidence-based support wherever you are.

When should I book a lactation consultation?

You can book a lactation consultation at any stage of pregnancy or after your baby’s birth. Early support can help prevent challenges, while timely care is valuable if concerns arise with feeding, milk supply, comfort, or your baby’s growth. Seeking guidance early often leads to easier, more confident outcomes.

Can you help with feeding difficulties?

Yes. We support a wide range of feeding difficulties, including latch challenges, nipple pain, unsettled feeding, milk supply concerns, and complex clinical situations. Our consultations provide thorough assessment, practical strategies, and evidence-based guidance to help you resolve challenges and feed your baby with greater comfort and confidence.

Is breastfeeding support only for new parents?

Not at all. Breastfeeding support can be valuable at any stage of your feeding journey. Families often seek guidance for ongoing challenges, changes in feeding, returning to work, or weaning. Support is always tailored to your needs, your baby’s development, and your individual circumstances.

Are Medicare rebates available?

Great news — Medicare rebates are now available!

What qualifications and registrations do you hold?

Our clinic is led by an Endorsed Midwife (EM), internationally certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). We maintain active membership with the Lactation Consultants of Australia and New Zealand (LCANZ) and the Australian College of Midwives (ACM), and hold Certified Neurodiversity Lactation Specialist (CNLS) certification. Ongoing professional development ensures our care remains current, evidence-based, and aligned with best-practice maternity and lactation standards.
